Salted egg yolks have twice the cholesterol of butter and are high in sodium. But that hasn’t stopped restaurants from serving us delicious dishes paired with the humble ingredient.
If you’re a foodie looking to try all salted egg yolk dishes, here is a selection from eateries at Resorts World Sentosa. Whether it’s savoury or sweet, we’ve got you covered.
Feng Shui Inn

Part of the appetiser selection, the Crispy Fish Skin with Salted Egg Yolk and Calamansi gets a thumbs up from our food reviewer who wrote:
It’s a wonder how the chefs manage to coat the fish skin in rich salted egg yolk without discounting much of the crunchiness of the dish. The salted egg yolk coats your tongue like butter while the dash of sour calamansi sauce tempers the saltiness of the dish.
Shu Jiang Grilled Fish

Is fried fish skin and salted egg yolk a match made in heaven? Seems like it. You won’t want to stop after having the first crunchy bite.
Avenue Joffre

Need a break from the savoury salted egg yolk dishes? The salted egg yolk buns from Avenue Joffre gets high scores from Xing Wei Chua who wrote on food review app Burpple:
This was really perfection; never had one that was as balanced as this in both texture and flavour. We loved this for how fluffy it is, with the bun not being too thick nor too thin filled with salty-sweet molten salted egg yolk filling; well-balanced on both sides of the scale and was pretty filled up so it bursts with every bite.
Streats Hong Kong Cafe

Finger-thick pumpkin fries that are sweeter than the usual fries made with potatoes, topped with rich salted egg yolk batter = Expanding waist line.
Starbucks

Liquid salted egg yolk sauce oozes out when you break open the flaky pastry. Available for a limited time.
BreadTalk

These mini croissants are perfect for tea time or a snack. Refuel before you continue you day of adventure at the Resort.
ToastBox

Available only for dine-in, the Golden Lava French Toast can only be ordered as a set with coffee or tea. Get your serviettes ready or you’ll get runny golden lava all over your fingers.
McDonald’s

Nestled between a black pepper and white sesame bun is a fried chicken patty drizzled with salted egg yolk-flavoured sauce. Have you tried it yet?
