What’s your plan for Easter Sunday?
If you’re planning to celebrate the end of Lent (and the long weekend) with a feast, you might be interested in Starz Restaurant’s Eggciting Sunday Lunch, available only on April 20.
RWScoop had a “sneak eat” of egg dishes on the buffet menu for the day.
Here are two yummy egg dishes we found at that deserves a second mention (and multiple servings):
Eggs Benedict, Whole Grain Bread and Smoked Salmon
Executive Sous Chef Eric Tan gives a modern spin to this traditional American breakfast. The new creation swaps English muffin with whole grain bread and turkey ham with smoked salmon.
It’s a pity to destroy the perfect poached egg perched on top. As I sliced through the egg, runny egg yolk joined the Hollandaise sauce to smother my salmon and bread.
It’s rather unusual using a knife to cut off a piece of bread but the combination of smoked salmon, runny egg and bread is a refreshing change from regular Eggs Benedict.
If you want a traditional Eggs Benedict, there is still the good old fashioned turkey ham and English muffin on the buffet line.
Baked Egg with Crispy Bacon & Truffle Oil
If you’re trying to control your egg consumption, this dish is perfect for you. Each Baked Egg is cooked in a little dish so you can count your eggs before eating them.
Chef Tan said this is a tricky dish to make as the centre of the dish is deeper than the sides. If overcooked, the sides would burn, but if undercooked, the yolk would be too runny. The perfect cooking time is 5 to 6 minutes at 120 degrees Celsius.
Paired with crispy bacon, the Baked Single Egg is the perfect two-bite companion to the buffet spread.
The buffet spread for Eggciting Sunday Lunch at Starz Restaurant includes more than 40 dishes such as seafood, noodles, Japanese food, main courses, cheese and desserts. Among the highlights of the buffet are:
- Prawn cocktail with quail egg
- Easter leg of lamb
- Dark chocolate marinated beef rib eye
- Roasted chicken thighs with salted egg and nanru sauce
- Praline bird nest cookies
