A bunch of sailors and a couple of pirates

Saturday morning at the Maritime Experiential Museum and Aquarium (MEMA) saw the congregation of 18 lucky Facebook fans (and one baby), all ready to set sail on an exclusive maritime experience tailored just for them.

Steered by friendly curators and crew members, fans were treated to a private tour filled with games, ancient artifacts, interesting historical tidbits, a category five storm… You get the drift.

Children for Children 2011 – A MEMA and USS special day out

For many of us living in relative comfort, a day out at an exciting new museum and a theme park would probably be enjoyed as such. But for the 1,600 underprivileged children who came down for a special Children’s Day treat at RWS last Friday, it certainly was a day to remember.

Osia’s Hot Valrhona Chocolate Soup with Black Peppered Ice Cream

Australian celebrity chef Scott Webster created this dessert creation many years ago when he first set up Osia in London and it was a big hit.

Bringing it to our tropical shores is our good fortune and his, because people just cannot get enough of it. Some have labeled it orgasmic and others drool at the sound of it. Whatever the case, perhaps you choc fanatics can try to recreate it at home. If that fails, there’s always at Osia, a stone’s throw away at Resorts World Sentosa.

So… Why should I visit MEMA?

In our previous post, we gave a quick peek at what to expect when MEMA opens its doors on the 15th of October. But as this day draws near, you wonder if MEMA is just another traditional gallery setting – artifacts encased in pristine glass panels and behind retractable queue barriers. What is so fascinating about the history of the maritime silk route? Well, we’ve got two words for you: Interactivity and Multi-sensory.

Ferrari Frenzy with Fernando and Felipe at MEMA

It was a night that set pulses racing. With beautiful guests, a bevy of race queens, and main men Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, the Ferrari Party at the Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium (MEMA) was the place to see and be seen. Against the backdrop of Admiral Zheng He’s magnificent ship the Bao Chuan, our guests were among the first lucky few to experience the museum before it opens its doors to the public on the 15th of October.
