The late 1990s and early 2000s will be remembered as the golden age of pop punk.
One of the breakthrough groups emerging during that period is Yellowcard, whose popular songs include ‘Ocean Avenue’ and ‘Only One’. Unlike other pop punk bands, Yellowcard’s music is distinctive as it includes the use of a violin.
After 20 years in the scene, the Floridian band bids farewell to their fans. Catch them at The Final World Tour in Singapore on 12 February 2017 at The Coliseum.
Before their concert, Yellowcard violinist and backing vocalist Sean Mackin shares several fun facts which you might not know about him.
Who or what inspires you?
My daughter Madelyn. I have to be the best I can be for her. Set a good example every day.
What do you most dislike?
If you’re not in a band, what would you be?
If I weren’t in a band, I always thought I would be a good teacher. Maybe music teacher, or sports coach. I love golf, tennis, basketball and football.
What is the one thing you can’t live without?
Can’t live without my family.
Are you a dog or cat person? Why?
I grew up with cats and dogs! I don’t have to choose, I love both.
What is your greatest fear?
I fear not living up to my potential.
Which word or phrase do you most overuse?
I say, “What’s up brother” way too often.
Which superpower would you most like to have?
My superpower would be to fly. That would be so awesome.
What would you never eat?
I can never eat shrimp. I’m allergic!
If you can be anywhere now, where will it be?
I would love to be at home with my family, but being on the road playing Yellowcard shows is pretty cool too.
This will be Yellowcard’s final world tour. What are your plans after the tour?
I don’t really have a plan for after. Yellowcard has been my life’s work and this farewell is very important to me. I’m enjoying every bit of it and very much living in the moment.
Do you have a message to your fans in Singapore?
We are very lucky to be able to play shows in Singapore, and could not possibly imagine that we would ever have fans so far away from our home. Thank you so much to everyone that has supported us and we look forward to playing one last show for our fans in Singapore!
