We’re back with #OnTheJob with RWS! Today, we speak with Patrick Seow from Universal Studios Singapore (USS) Entry Operations, who loves creating lifetime memories for guests through service excellence.
RWScoop: Hi Patrick, what’s a usual day like for you at USS?
Patrick: To sum it up, I make sure guests have a smooth experience entering and leaving our premises, and they may also approach me for assistance and equipment rental. One highlight of my daily routine is to pick a family to take part in the park’s Opening Ceremony, as this tends to be an exciting affair for those involved.
A welcome sight at the turnstiles, Patrick is often the first to greet guests with a cheerful “Have a Universal day!”
RWScoop: That sure sounds like fun. By the way, congratulations on your 10th year of service with USS! What do you love most about the experience?
Patrick: There are so many reasons! Having the opportunity to interact with our guests and creating wonderful memories for them is definitely at the top of my list. Also, work doesn’t feel like a job when you love what you do, and when colleagues and management feel like family. For me, I appreciate the strong and cohesive “Resorts World Sentosa” brand and community – it’s a great place to come and play and a great place to work.
RWScoop: What was your career prior to USS like? And what advice would you give to young adults who have just entered the workforce?
Patrick: Having spent a good 43 years with Singapore Airlines and a fast-moving industry with many unpredictable situations, I’ve learnt to adapt quickly to changes and manage my resources cleverly.
A good rule to live by is to “always be happy with what you do and work hard”. Not forgetting the importance of life-long learning, to climb the corporate ladder.
RWScoop: Any words of wisdom for retirement?
Patrick: When you have money, save some of it for retirement!
