Those who came of age during the 1990s will remember pop punk band Simple Plan’s anthemic rock songs such as ‘Welcome to My Life’ and ‘Perfect’.
The French-Canadian band is returning to Singapore on 5 September for the “Taking One for the Team Tour” which promotes their new album of the same name. The album explores new styles for the band such as reggae in ‘Singing in the Rain’ and pop ballad ‘Perfectly Perfect’.
Before their concert, Simple Plan guitarist Jeff Stinco shares several fun facts which you might not know about him.
Who or what inspires you?
I’m inspired by people who push the limits of the human condition, such as great scientists, great athletes, great writers, and virtuoso.
What do you most dislike?
I dislike lies and pickles 😉
If you’re not in a band, what would you be?
I would love to be a teacher. I think it’s such a noble practice to inspire the youth to develop their intellect and shape someone’s future.
What is the one thing you can’t live without?
My classical guitar.
Are you a dog or cat person? Why?
I’m a dog person who mostly had cats in his life because I live in the city and I’m away a lot.
I love how affectionate dogs are and I had some wonderful dogs such as my first dog ‘Tony’.
My cat Roxy is quite feisty but I love her.
What is your greatest fear?
I’m scared of snakes and spiders. I truly do not love those weird animals or insects.
I don’t love heights neither, I guess I have vertigo. That being said, I’ve been doing a lot of rock climbing lately to fight that fear and I’m actually loving it!
Which word or phrase do you most overuse?
Which superpower would you most like to have?
Being invisible. There are so many things I would love to see without being seen.
What would you never eat?
I probably would never eat tripe. It’s not my thing. No judgement but it just doesn’t sound very appealing to me.
If you can be anywhere now, where will it be?
Right now, I wouldn’t mind being home. We haven’t been there in a while. If I had my loved ones with me, I would love to be on a beach somewhere.
