Lights out for Earth Hour 2013

Earth Hour 2013

Be part of the Earth Hour movement on 23 March 2013. Join us and many other individuals and organizations in making a stand on climate change.

Our fourth year (check out our 2010 and 2011 initiatives) in support of this global initiative, Resorts World Sentosa will be turning off water features and switching off landscape, canopy, and non-essential lighting for an hour beginning from 8:30pm. Expect dimmer lights in the car park and along hotel corridors; but don’t worry, it will be safe and bright enough for you to get around.

Affected attractions will have new show times for the night.

  • Crane Dance: 9.30pm
  • Lake of Dreams: 10pm
  • Fountain of Good Fortune: Stopped for the hour

Efforts to help our Earth shouldn’t be contained within this hour. It’s not only the big actions that matters – like preserving hectares of forest or using solar panels – because every action, no matter how small, helps.

Solar panels at Ancient Egypt zone, Universal Studios Singapore
Recipient of EDB’s Solar Pioneer Award 2011, these solar panels on the roof of Revenge of the Mummy building in Universal Studios Singapore can generate 550 megawatt hours of electricity per year, enough to power 108 four-room flats in Singapore.

Switch off your lights when you step out for lunch. Take shorter showers. Bring your own mug to take away your favourite coffee. Reuse rather than recycle. Recycle rather than discard.

As you join many others on Earth Hour this 23 March at 8:30pm, look Beyond the Hour and create your own ‘I Will If You Will’ challenge at Earth Hour’s website . Or simply make it a personal task to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
