Celebrate all things blue at S.E.A. Aquarium’s Ocean Fest!

25 May – 24 June 2018

In celebration of World Oceans Day, S.E.A. Aquarium will launch Ocean Fest! This month-long festival aims to raise awareness for ocean conservation through a marketplace showcasing ocean-friendly products, educational challenges, underwater performances, upcycling workshops, art installation and more.

Get eco-friendly products at Ocean Eco-market – for the hipster in you

Whether it’s fairy lights in upcycled bottles as side-table showpieces, reusable metal straws or wallets made of recycled milk cartons, there’s bound to be something that will catch your eye at the Aquarium’s first ever ocean eco-market. What can we say? Ocean conservation just got a whole lot more hipster.

This eco-market is organised in partnership with Terra SG – a social enterprise that advocates individuals to make positive environmental change while providing social employment and opportunities for beneficiaries from Movement for the Intellectually Disable of Singapore (MINDS) and other Voluntary Welfare Organisations.

Time: 10am – 7pm, weekends only
Venue:
open air walkway between Maritime Experiential Museum and S.E.A. Aquarium

Solve marine crimes at Ocean Lab – for the young, curious minds

Take on the role of a crime scene investigator and solve the murders of several marine animals (spoiler alert: the answer is plastic trash). This interactive zone will impart to young children basic inference and evidence assessment skills in a fun, interesting and relevant way.

Venue: before tunnel leading to Shipwreck Habitat

Snap photos of an art installation and the many habitats at the Aquarium – for the avid Instagrammer

Snap a swag silhouette shot as you walk under Life in Plastic, a thought-provoking art installation designed to put its onlookers in the shoes of animals often entangled in marine debris. Set in stark contrast against the pristine aquatic environment of the aquarium, it aims to highlight the horrors of plastic pollution.

Tip: the installation’s lights change colour periodically, so hang on for a bit to snap a shot in a colour you prefer!

While you’re there, don’t forget to snap shots against the Instagram-able backdrop of our Aquarium’s many habitats.

Other things to do – for people of all ages

You’ll also find several interactive booths throughout the Aquarium, as part of the Plastic Ocean Challenge.

Then at 1.30pm & 3.30pm on weekends, head over to the Open Ocean Gallery for Harmony’s Message, a brand-new underwater show on how we can all play our part in keeping the oceans healthy.
