[FOOD] Resorts World Sentosa hosts World Gourmet Summit 2012

I remember the year the annual World Gourmet Summit (WGS) brought in Ian Wright, the host of Globe Trekker on Discovery Channel. Titled ‘The Food I Like’, Wright regaled guests with fascinating travel stories, including the time he ate cooked cockroaches. When an ‘irreverent’ guest decided to query how the dare-devil landed his job, Wright’s rebuttal of “bugger off and go find your own work” left many in stitches.

World Gourmet Summit 2012 at RWS

WGS has introduced to this part of the world many Michelin-star chefs and made people excited about food. Ian Wright has done that with a pinch of entertainment and others with more culinary flair. This year, WGS 2012 is coming to Resorts World Sentosa. We’re the official premium hospitality partner which means RWS will be hosting many of its events in our restaurants and pssst, exciting venues like along New York Street and in Stage 28® at Universal Studios Singapore®.

Held from 23 April to 3 May, RWS’s own award-winning chefs including celebrity chef Sam Leong, chef Douglas Tay and chef Kenny Kong will be demonstrating their culinary prowess alongside internationally- acclaimed masterchefs from around the world.

Opening Reception

The gastronomic journey begins! Meet notable chefs and distinguished wine producers from around the world and indulge in a spectacular feast in the Big Apple. The opening reception for WGS has never been as exciting. Get into the New York state of mind and rub shoulders with like-minded gourmands on the red carpet.

World Gourmet Summit Charity Dinner

Over the past decade, this annual charity dinner has raised more than S$3 million for Community Chest. The elegant dinner will feature a fabulous feast prepared by the culinary team from Resorts World Sentosa including highly acclaimed celebrity chef Sam Leong, chef Douglas Tay and chef Kenny Kong, and participating masterchefs in World Gourmet Summit such as Knorr Brand Ambassador Marco Pierre White and two Michelin-starred chef Dani García.

Gastronomic Jam Sessions

A new addition to the World Gourmet Summit, the Gastronomic Jam Sessions is a culinary fiesta not to be missed! Organised over a span of two days, both local and foreign masterchefs will be showcasing their remarkable talents and culinary expertise. Held in an auditorium for 300, you can expect to learn the tricks of the trade from RWS’s very own chef patissier Antonio Benites from the Joël Robuchon Restaurant in action.

Indoguna Gala Dinner featuring Anatoly Komm

Forest at dusk

One Michelin-starred chef Anatoly Komm from Russia will design a six-course menu of traditional Russian cuisine with a twist using the latest molecular techniques, paired with wines from Indoguna, Russian sparkling wine and vodka. Apart from the tantalising dinner, guests will also enjoy the tranquil ambience of the newly-opened Forest with an intricate interior design inspired by the rainforest trees that form the landscape of Singapore.
