Were you one of the thousands of fans at Universal Studios Singapore on 3 April evening? Did you manage to catch a glimpse of the stars of The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Jessica Chastain during the red carpet and Asia gala premiere of the movie?
We heard that some fans had arrived as early as 8.30am to get a spot on the red carpet, which stretched from Hollywood Boulevard to Pantages Hollywood Theatre. If you weren’t there, here’s a recap of what happened.
The sky had cleared after a heavy downpour in the late afternoon. Host of the red carpet Jamie Yeo entertained the fans with Q&A sessions, giving away tickets to the movie premiere.
At 6.50pm, the first limousine rolled in, bringing director Oscar-nominee Cedric Nicolas Troyan. The cast followed in separate vehicles.
Here comes Jessica Chastain
The first celeb to arrive was Jessica Chastain who looked gorgeous in her sparkling black Elie Saab dress. She commented on her Instagram account that the dress helped her keep cool in our humid climate. Jessica who plays Sara the Warrior, Eric’s wife in the movie, took selfies and signed posters as she strolled down the red carpet.

Chris Hemsworth arrives
Next was Chris Hemsworth who plays the titular character Eric the Huntsman in the movie.
Sporting a beard and a suit, Chris’s appearance brought a thunderous round of cheers from the fans. As he walked down the red carpet, he mingled with fans and took selfies. We were worried how he was doing in his suit in the hot and humid Singapore weather.

Charlize Theron graces the red carpet
Charlize Theron arrived at the red carpet in style in a floor-length white dress, reminiscent of her gowns as Ravenna, the evil queen in the movie. But Charlize was anything but evil on the red carpet, taking selfies, signing autographs and interacting with fans. There was a fan who broke into tears when Charlize came near, and was rewarded with a hug from the Academy Award-winning actress.

Hand print ceremony
After the red carpet, the cast and the director left their mark at Universal Studios Singapore during the hand printing ceremony.

They then posed outside Pantages Hollywood Theater, which was transformed into the ice palace for the night.

Special guests got to see the stars up close during the Meet and Greet.
Screening of The Huntsman: Winter’s War
At the closed-door screening, some fans were treated to a special screening of The Huntsman: Winter’s War at Pantages Hollywood Theatre, eleven days ahead of the Singapore screening on 14 April.

Before the screening, the host Jamie Yeo chatted with the stars and the director on stage. Jessica shared her love for durians. Charlize joked about the number of mobile phones pointed at the stage. She asked the audience to switch on their phone lights so the actors and director could feel more like stars. The audience happily obliged.
Soon the lights were off and everyone settled in for the movie which is a mix of prequel and sequel of Snow White and the Huntsman.
There were bursts of laughter during the movie, which was peppered with action and comedic elements. At the end of the movie, an enthusiastic applause rang in the theatre. Let’s hope the audience won’t reveal movie spoilers before the Singapore screening.
