What does it take to be a stunt performer at HHN’s Live Shows?

If you’ve seen the jaw-dropping stunts in Laboratorium at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights 7 (HHN7), you’ll know that being a stunt performer at HHN’s Live Shows is no easy feat. With hundreds of people watching you live, there’s virtually no room for mistake as you dangle 10m above ground, or contort yourself in perilous ways without getting injured.

We sat down with the stunt performers of the Duo Costache Trapeze Act and Bonetics to find out just what it takes to be a stunt performer at HHN’s Live Shows.

Duo Costache

Duo Costache

A husband and wife duo from Romania, Leonardo and Vita are the 9th and 2nd generation of circus performers in their respective families and have been working together on The Trapeze Act – where they suspend themselves mid-air using only their teeth (!!) – for 7 years now.

According to the Duo, it takes years of practice and discipline before one can perform in front of a live audience. But don’t take it from us, hear it from the duo themselves:

Fun fact: Leonardo used to hold the world record for the Longest duration to hang suspended by the teeth (2min 46s) until Vita beat him (7min 3s)!

Bonetics

Bonetics

From the moment the performer of this stunt act twisted his arms behind his head at the media preview of Laboratorium, we just had to find out how he does it. A semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, Junior is a dancer who performs a unique style of dance known as ‘flexing’ or ‘bone-breaking’.

As it turns out, bone-breaking dance involves extreme flexibility and fluid joint movement to create the illusion of dislocating bones from their joints.

Catch Laboratorium at Halloween Horror Nights 7

A comedic, cabaret-like musical extravaganza, Laboratorium will certainly leave you wide-eyed at the edge of your seat – so be sure to catch it at HHN7 if you haven’t already done so!

Show timings differ each night, so do refer to the showtime board on display outside Pantages Hollywood Theater.
