[Review] Italian lunching at Fratelli at RWS

fratelli pizzeria trattoria entrance

Helmed by three-star Michelin chefs from Italy, Fratelli is the latest celebrity chef restaurant at Resorts World Sentosa.

The Italian restaurant is located at Festive Walk and can be accessed from Hotel Michael’s lobby. You’ll find dining experiences here: the Pizzeria for all-day dining and Trattoria for dinner service only.

You can reach Fratelli from Hotel Michael’s lobby.

At Fratelli Pizzeria, a la carte pizzas run from S$30++ to S$68++, while mains are from S$16++ to S$30++.

That makes the 3-course Lunch Set Menu (available daily, except Tuesdays and Sundays) a steal at S$30++. You can choose from salad or soup for appetiser, pasta or pizza for mains and dessert or coffee/tea for the last course.

What’s for lunch?

The 3-course set lunch menu at Fratelli Pizzeria changes monthly. You can visit the website for the latest menu.

Based on recommendations, I decided on:

  • Appetiser: Insalata Caprese–Buffalo Mozzarella cheese served with medley of vine Tomatoes and Basil Pesto sauce
  • Pasta: Gnocchetti Di Patate Alla Piemontese–Homemade Potatoes ‘Gnocchetti’ served in Garlic Butter Emulsion Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese Foam
  • Dessert: Tortino caldo di Cioccolato e sale–Warm Sea Salt Chocolate Fondant tart served with Vanilla Ice Cream

Fratelli Pizzeria complimentary bread

While waiting for the food, a complimentary basket of bread was served. The bread was light with a crispy crust.

While not an Italian tradition, I dipped the bread in olive oil. The golden-green olive oil was aromatic, and accentuated the freshness of the bread.

Pace yourself when it comes to the bread as there’s more good food to come.

Appetiser: Salad

Though listed as an appetiser, the Insalata Caprese was surprisingly large. The red tomatoes made a pretty contrast to the white buffalo mozzarella cheese and flower petals were sprinkled on top.

The sweetness of the tomatoes was accentuated by the tangy basil pesto sauce. However, the taste of the buffalo mozzarella–though mild and creamy–was drowned out by the tomato and basil sauce.

Mains: Pasta

The Gnocchetti arrived next. The garlic butter sauce smelled divine while the little dough dumplings were pillowy and tender.

Recipes at Fratelli haven’t been changed to suit the Singaporean’s taste. That might be why I found the dish slightly too rich and felt stuffed just halfway through the dish.

Still, the buttery sauce was too good not to finish.

Then came dessert.

Dessert: Warm Sea Salt Chocolate Fondant Tart served with Vanilla Ice Cream

If you’re a chocolate fanatic, this dessert is perfect for you as Warm Sea Salt Chocolate Fondant Tart seemed to be made of pure chocolate.

Nestled on top of a chocolate tart was a thin wafer of chocolate. Break open the fluffy pudding top and you’ll find liquid dark chocolate. Though sweet, the delicious taste of bitter dark chocolate lingered.

The vanilla ice cream played more of a supporting role. When mixed, the coldness of the ice cream and warmth of the fondant gives a contrasting bite.

The portion I got was quite substantial–if you are not filled by now, this will definitely top off the meal on a full note.

The dish reminded me of Osia Steak and Seafood Grill’s Hot Valrhona Chocolate Soup which is my favourite dessert in the whole Resort. Chocolate fans shouldn’t miss both dishes if you’re at the Resort.

Overall, I would recommend the Fratelli Pizzeria Set Lunch Menu. It is a steal at S$30++ for the Michelin-quality dishes. If I return, I’d try out the other main dishes but stick to the salad and dessert I had enjoyed.

More about Fratelli

Fratelli Pizzeria is best for gatherings for families and friends. The serving size is quite large so having more people around means you can order different types of dishes to share.

If you’re bringing kids, get tables near the open kitchen so they can see their pizzas being made.

If you’re coming for date night, Fratelli Trattoria next door is a better choice due to the smaller seating capacity. You’ll get a more private dining experience there. The tasting menu starts from S$88++ for four courses.
