In the second of a three-part food promotion at Feng Shui Inn, we bring you closer to nine authentic dishes from the place where Chef de Cuisine Yip Cheung Shui honed his craft — Hong Kong.

From 25 March to 14 April, Chef Yip brings you his Hongkong Masterpieces or ‘九大簋 (literally meaning nine sumptuous dishes). Nine dishes are picked for this banquet because traditionally, nine signifies opulence.

What to expect: Sink your teeth into exquisite ingredients like chewy abalone and tender foie gras bathed in rich and glistening honey sauce. The spinach and avocado complement this dish perfectly. Simply divine.

What to expect:

Perfect nosh for foodies who love strong flavours, this dish features sweet prawns coupled with generous amount of garlic bits. The vinaigrette dressing adds a nice citrusy kick too — definitely worth a try!

What to expect: End the meal on a sweet note with this bowl of goodness filled with nine different ingredients: green and red radish, red dates, ginkgo nut, sugar cane, fresh lotus seed, papaya, black fungus and white fungus. It’s like ‘cheng tng’, only tastier. It is not too sweet and the ingredients  add a nice crisp bite. The price is a steal too.

It’s not ‘九大簋’ without the complete nine dishes spread on your table. Go the distance and opt for the 9-course set menu, to get everything above and other delectable mains like the Crispy-fried top grade sea cucumber stuffed with shrimp roe, braised mock fin with black fungus and mushrooms, and the steamed minced chicken with egg white topped with delicate imperial bird’s nest.
