An early Christmas for 440 children

On 30 November, 440 children were the first to experience A Universal Christmas, this year’s special Christmas programming at Universal Studios Singapore – ahead of the official opening to the public on 1 December.

The children were here as beneficiaries of aRWSome Wishes, an annual Christmas-giving-and-community-outreach programme by Resorts World Sentosa that stretches across its spectrum of team members. Like previous years, the children would share their Christmas wishes and RWS team members will look to grant them the gifts they want through personal contributions. Some team members would go further – stepping in to help during the children’s day out as well.

The children, all beneficiaries from South West District, were treated to the bright and colourful spectacle of the launch of A Universal Christmas, including a sneak preview of the special Christmas show Oscar’s Grouchmas. They were joined at the event by Mayor of South West District Low Yen Ling and CEO of RWS Tan Hee Teck.

aRWSome Wishes is organised in partnership with South West CDC as part of Festive Cheers @ South West under Adopt @ South West programme, which began in 2013. Going further with its partnership with South West CDC, Resorts World Sentosa is taking part in Clean Up South West! – activating its team members to contribute old clothes in return for groceries for the needy – and Foodprints @ South West on managing food waste effectively.

Searching for a Christmas Star is projection mapping and musical performance, one of the special programming this Christmas in Universal Studios Singapore.

This year as well, for this season of giving, Resorts World is pledging S$10 to Community Chest for every online ticket purchase to A Universal Christmas (to a maximum donation of S$300,000) with the aRWSome Wishes Charity Drive. So if you are planning to visit Universal Studios Singapore this December, know too that your visit will help Community Chest in helping the underprivileged.
