Every third Sunday of June is the day we honour fathers and fatherhood. It is also the one day of the year where we (ungrateful) children try our best to not roll our eyes at Dad’s corny jokes or cringey pairing of socks and sandals.
But cringey or corny, Dad still deserves credit for all that he’s done for us. This year, instead of the usual suspects of shirt, tie and food, try opting for something that will make him feel really special. If you share our sentiments, read on for some quirky ideas.
1. Laughter is the best present
If Dad has always brought a smile to your face with funny anecdotes and witticisms, why not return the favour by giving him a laugh this Father’s Day? Hilarious quotes are dime a dozen on the internet. Just ask Uncle Google and you’ll have loads to choose from. Frame it up, or print it onto a tee-shirt to create perfect memory keepers. Here are two of our favourites:
2. Sweet surprise
If your dad has a sweet tooth like mine, this present is sure to be the coolest he has ever received. Just take some of these
… and turn them into this…
… without having to buy this monster candy spitter. Skeptical? Check out this video below and you’ll be amazed how easy it is:
For this to work, your refrigerator will need to have an external water or ice dispenser as seen in the video. If you don’t, there’s always the option of letting dad dispense some money out of you at the candy shop:
4. Let the games begin
Got a sports fanatic for a father? With the upcoming World Cup, a cable TV subscription would definitely score well with him if he doesn’t already have one.
5. Hot mug
With heat-activated mugs, the images change on the exterior according to the temperature of the beverage. These mugs aren’t exactly a novelty by now. But surely your dad doesn’t have one, does he? If your dad is a regular coffee or tea drinker, here’s something fun he may appreciate. In goes the hot beverage and tada!
To customise a heat-activated mug, contact print shops that print novelty items and corporate gifts.
Or just eat your heart out
