[INSIGHTS] 5 Things to get Mummy this Mother’s Day

green tea-raspberry & chocolate mousse by Chef Bruno Le Derf

I remember the Mother’s Day cards my brother and I used to painstakingly hand-draw when we were children, and how mum would cherish them all. Just last year during the spring cleaning season, she unearthed a box that held all the cards we ever made her. Something about that box of archived memories spoke louder than any declaration of love or comfort that she could have given us, and I realize the greatest gift is an experience and the meaning behind the gift, rather than the physical gift itself.

With only a week left to 13 May, we’ve put together a list of experiences that you can get Mum for Mother’s Day, to show her how much she means to you.

A conversation over tea

Chef Bruno for RWS at Boulangerie

This is childhood tea-time reincarnated: instead of pretend cake perched on your stash of masak-masak cutlery, have an afternoon of exquisite creations by renowned chocolate chef Bruno Le Derf at Boulangerie. Sample the visiting chef’s Coffee and Chocolate Financier, Pistache and Morello Cherry Macaron, bonbons and more while you play catch-up with mum. Just don’t get too distracted licking the chocolate from your fingers.

Chocolate afternoon tea available from 11 to 31 May: $35++ per set. RWS Invites Member Special: $20++

 A conversation over (DIY) tea

Experiential Tea and Teacup set from MEMA

If you fancy spending Mother’s day at home instead, why not get a pretty teacup set – complete with exotic teas – to complete the experience? The Maritime Experiential Museum has some hidden treasures in their gift shop, and this teacup set caught our eye. With delicate glazing and soothing colours, you and mum can have a proper afternoon tete-a-tete over fresh brews, while lounging in pyjamas.

Experiential Teas set starts from $59, from the Maritime Experiential Museum

An invite

RWS Invites

Maybe mum would love a fabulous meal at the 26 Michelin-starred L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, a relaxing treat from ESPA (opening only in June), or an adrenalin rush at Universal Studios Singapore. Whatever it is, you can consider getting her the RWS Invites card, our new resort-wide loyalty programme. For just $150 annually (that’s only $12.50 a month!) you can be assured that mum gets one of the abovementioned enticing welcome packages, exclusive invites to events, awesome deals, and a coffee on us every time she visits the resort.

A mini getaway

Hard Rock Hotel SG at RWS- Main Pool

No, we’re not suggesting you send mum away all alone– we’re suggesting you send her and yourself away on a relaxing weekend for two. In our special Mother’s Day package deal, pamper mum and yourself to a night’s stay at Hard Rock Hotel, Hotel Michael or Festive Hotel, complete with a dinner for two, a visit to the Maritime Experiential Museum and a hair treatment from Salon Royale (situated at Festive Hotel Lobby). There’s nothing like a relaxing escape from household headache to say thank you.

Watch a “Circus Broadway spectacular”

Voyage de la Vie at RWS

If mum loves broadway and circus acts, then perhaps a night out with our resident theatre spectacular Voyage de la Vie is the perfect answer. With new characters, singers, and a new direction, Voyage de la Vie is bigger and more colourful then ever before. The best part is that the whole family can join in the fun; you can be rest assured that dad and your brothers won’t feel left out.

Catch Voyage de la Vie before the final curtain call on July 16.
