Everybody loves a free upgrade. If you can get a deluxe double cheeseburger at the price of a plain cheeseburger, you’d say yes to that upgrade. If you can rent a swanky sports car at the price of a bland compact car, you’d take that upgrade too. And if you can fly first class by paying the price of an economy class ticket, you’ll definitely take up the offer – we know we would.
An instant upgrade to your Universal Studios Singapore® Annual Pass sounds like an enticing deal too, and that’s exactly what RWS Invites members are getting in the month of June.
Here are three reasons why you deserve this exclusive treat.
For those of you who have been to Premium Outlets before, you’ll probably know what to expect – great discounts for amazing luxury brands and hours upon hours of mad shopping. But with the new Johor branch of Premium Outlets, there is something else to consider – the tropical climate and all that comes along with it. With the upcoming All-Day Shopping trip to the Johor Premium Outlets (JPO) organized by RWS Invites on June 17, we list 5 ways you can shop till you drop without too much sweat.
You might have seen them around Universal Studios Singapore®– people clad in black, wielding walkie-talkies, stopping you from swarming up next to Woody Woodpecker and Marilyn Monroe. Just who are they?
Introducing the Star Guides – people who protect their character charges, keep overzealous fans at bay, and keep a close watch on schedules, like a manager, butler and personal bodyguard all rolled into one. And before you think they’re an unfriendly lot, they’re not.
Their work sounds easy enough. All they do is keep tabs on the characters, right? But when I was invited for a backstage sneak peek of their typical workday, I realized that it is far more challenging than I initially thought. I met up with JR, the In-Charge for Madagascar (one of the park’s seven zones), who brought me into their “greenroom” – a backstage area for performers and escorts.
Dragging your feet to lunch? Tired of the same old dining options? We think that it’s a sin to not fully utilize your lunch breaks because lunch is an important meal and a good time to re-energise for the remaining half of the day. So here’s something sweet for all RWS Invites members – grab one paying friend or more and you can have lunch on us at seven of our fine restaurants from now till 31 July 2012. Just present your RWS Invites upon ordering.
Here are some highlights from each restaurant.
Can’t say no to chocolates? That was exactly what happened when chocolate enthusiasts convened at Boulangerie on May 10 for French chocolate maestro, Chef Bruno Le Derf’s culinary demonstration. Armed with the recipe book, pens and cameras, guests were treated to an hour of chocolate tips, tricks, and tantalizing smells, before sinking their teeth into some of the most delectable and sinful chocolate creations (we know, we sneaked a bite too).
Here, we’ve put together 6 simple things you can do to make the best of any cooking show-and-tell.
Part of the fun of theatre is watching how the costuming and sets form the backdrop for the show. The Journey of Voyage de la Vie has seen an evolution of colours on stage, thanks in part to costume redesigns, for both aesthetics as well as for functionality. Here, chief of wardrobe Claire Loh shared a little of the work the wardrobe team of 17 does, her favourite dress, and how often the costumes get laundered (thankfully, often enough).
Catch Voyage de la Vie before the curtains close for the final time on July 16. For more information and ticketing, visit the website here.
A few weeks ago, we suggested a few ways to make it big on YouTube. When six YouTube stars were here for The YouTube Stars Concert on May 5, we got them to reveal secrets to their YouTube singing success. And what not to do if you want to make it big.
At L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, the chefs whip up your gourmet dinner right in front of you. Now participate in the creation of your French meal by tailoring your menu according to your appetite.
I remember the Mother’s Day cards my brother and I used to painstakingly hand-draw when we were children, and how mum would cherish them all. Just last year during the spring cleaning season, she unearthed a box that held all the cards we ever made her. Something about that box of archived memories spoke louder than any declaration of love or comfort that she could have given us, and I realize the greatest gift is an experience and the meaning behind the gift, rather than the physical gift itself.
With only a week left to 13 May, we’ve put together a list of experiences that you can get Mum for Mother’s Day, to show her how much she means to you.
