July updates for Universal Studios Singapore
[Updated: 8 July 2010]
July’s coming and there’s something brewing in Universal Studios (as always!). Out of the magic cauldron (with Fairy Godmother’s blessing) we bring you July’s Hollywood After Hours.
With the June school holidays coming to a close, After Hours will be back to Fridays and Saturdays, but still from 7pm to 10pm. The admission fee is now S$5 to enter.
WAIT A MINUTE, S$5?! It was only S$2 previously.
Can you handle it?
The auditions, that is. Today’s the first day of Universal Studios Singapore Audition 2010! The audition leg kicks off in Singapore and the Audition team would soon be touring the region to hunt down talented singers, dancers, stilt walkers, celebrity look-a-likes, puppeteers, voice impersonators and more.
From the Sci Fi City stiltwalkers, characters like Frankenstein and Marilyn Monroe, right down to the adorable quartet of Madagascar penguins, our park performers have only one aim- to offer visitors a memorable experience.

Are you ready for Fight Club?

Aaron “Man of Steel” Steele (USA)
Trained in submission wrestling and kickboxing, the “Man of Steel”, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor, has fought many fights in the Midwest America. And no, he didn’t get his nickname just from his name, Steele is known to withstand heavy blows and yet find strength to deliver some pretty damaging blows to his opponent.
Jong Man “Special Force” Kim (South Korea)
An ex-soldier of South Korea’s Special Forces, it’s not hard to guess where Kim got his nickname from. But that doesn’t mean he hadn’t fought hard to own the moniker. An old hand at K-1 Dynamite, Japan’s annual mixed martial arts and kickboxing competition, “Special Force” is a top ranked fighter with 46 MMA fights to his name, in which he has won 21 of them.

Malik “Natural Born Killer” Mawlayi (Sweden/ Afghanistan)
With over 70 fights to his name, “Natural Born Killer” hails from war-torn Afghanistan and has trained in Taekwondo since 15 before picking up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He took part in his first MMA fight in 2005 and won, following with a string of successful submission fights. Known for his explosive nature and his skillful submission moves, we don’t envy his opponent.
Cyrus (USA)
His nickname may be simple but his skills are anything but. Cyrus is a ferocious fighter and a 10-year veteran of Muay Thai, with over 50 Muay Thai fights to brag about. Keep your eyes peeled for his flying elbows and spinning leg kicks- Cyrus is a master at these two moves.
If you’re a fan of Mixed Martial Arts, don’t give the fight nights on 16th and 17th June a miss.Besides the quartet above, there are eight other fighters each night, so there are plenty of punches to go around.
