For those of us who live for the thrill of new experiences, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) in Singapore has some of the most amazing delights to be had this side of the world. From getting up-close with the Minions of Despicable Me to getting in bed with sharks, this integrated resort packs quite a few treats up its sleeve.
Here are 11 unmissable experiences to put on your travel to-do list, all conveniently located within Resorts World Sentosa.
1. Walk the ‘sea floor’, and scuba amongst sharks, rays in an aquarium
Want to get up-close to marine animals but you aren’t a diver? The Sea Trek Adventure lets you do just that. You’ll don a special suit that allows you breathe underwater as you explore the seabed of the S.E.A. Aquarium, and come face to face with sharks, rays and fishes. It is perfect for beginners to get a first taste of going underwater. Did we mention that no diving licence is required?
If this whets your appetite for more, you can even sign up for an introductory session to diving with our certified instructors – you’ll learn the basics and complete your first scuba dive in just 2.5 hours.
For certified divers, there are programmes for you to dive in amongst sharks and more. Find out more about Ultimate Marine Encounters on the RWS website.
2. Get up-close with dolphins
If you prefer getting face-to-snout with dolphins, then look no further than Dolphin Interaction Programmes. You can don an underwater suit to join dolphins in their underwater habitat, or interact with them as you stand waist-deep in the pool. The trained hosts will also share interesting and illuminating facts about these mammals with you.
For the inquisitive ones, there is even a programme to go behind the scenes to learn about what goes into the care of these majestic animals.
A session here will give you a deeper appreciation of these dolphins beyond that which you can get in books or on the internet.
3. Have a date with 100,000 marine animals
As one of the world’s largest aquariums, S.E.A. Aquarium is an easy pick if you are looking for a peek into the fascinating world of over 100,000 marine animals from 800 species. They are found in many different unique habitats, designed to mirror actual real life locations.
Here, you’ll find the mysterious eels in their enclaves, the fascinating sea jellies and their pulsating dance, the world’s deadliest frogs in their bright colours, and perhaps even a rare blue lobster.
